Stages of varicose veins

Being a fairly common venous and arterial disease, varicose veins are accompanied by characteristic manifestations that make it possible to diagnose the disease in a timely manner and prevent its worsening. There are certain stages of varicose veins, which are accompanied by certain symptoms and can be an indication of both the neglect of the pathological process and the opportunity to identify current changes.

However, phlebologists today do not have a consensus on the isolation of the stage of the disease, because the release of its manifestations and features is not a fixed value: each case has its own characteristics of the manifestations and course of the disease, and against the background of parallel current lesions of the body, there is a high probabilitymanifestations of lubrication, which can interfere with proper diagnosis.

The main parameters for determining the degree of varicose veins

The degree of varicose veins is usually formed depending on a specific set of manifestations that characterize the degree of neglect of the current pathological process, as well as its influence on the patient's body as a whole. Classification of manifestations of the disease is the easiest method for early diagnosis and determination of treatment scheme.

phlebeurysm

To determine the stage of the disease, answers should be given to a number of specific questions that make it possible to understand the existing symptoms and, with its help, determine the degree of deterioration of the process, which greatly determines the possibility for treatment.

These issues include:

  • the presence of characteristic manifestations of varicose veins and the degree of their manifestation;
  • location and strength of symptoms;
  • the presence of external manifestations of changes in the condition of large veins and arteries;
  • the introduction of concomitant manifestations that exacerbate the patient’s condition.

However, even without a detailed diagnosis by a phlebologist, during the external examination of the patient, it is possible to make an initial diagnosis, which makes it possible to make a scheme of therapeutic effect and, depending on the individual characteristics of the patient's body, the presence of concomitant diseases and susceptibility to continuous exposure, make certain adjustments to the treatment. It is important in the process of diagnosis of the patient's condition to determine what type of varicose veins occur, their location and the degree of neglect of the pathological process.

Often, varicose veins affect the lower part of the leg, as it is this part of the human body that receives the most significant load. At the same time, not everyone is aware of this load on the legs, and does not protect them although there are a number of manifestations that indicate the need for a more attentive attitude to the limbs and veins. Therefore, to understand how the degree of varicose veins differs, it is necessary to get at least a general idea of the manifestations of this pathology, which is distinguished by its seriousness and great danger to the health of the feet and the human body as a whole.

Specification of varicose vein classification

The degree of varicose veins can vary in the form and location of the current pathological process in the vein. This approach is best suited to understand the degree of neglect of the disease, and also makes it possible to determine the cause of its onset, which will immediately eliminate the manifestations of this condition and special symptoms.

The types of varicose veins differ in a number of specific parameters. The use of specific classifications allows you to determine the belonging of an existing disease to a group, which facilitates further diagnosis and choice of treatment system. The modern classification according to the location of the main nodes of varicose veins is as follows:

  1. Varicose veins are located in the superficial layers of the skin and deep veins, while external manifestations are characterized by segmentation - changes in the condition of the veins are observed only in certain areas of the veins.
  2. Varicose veins are from superficial and perforated veins, which are also observed on certain skin segments.
  3. Changes in the condition of the veins, in which varicose enlargement and pathological changes in the superficial veins in an unexpressed form are diagnosed, reflux.
  4. Varicose veins, observed in deep veins, the development of reflux.

The presence of reflux indicates the presence of a specific pathology, because with reflux, the blood flows in the opposite direction. This phenomenon usually exacerbates the pathological process of vein changes, stimulates swelling of the varicose veins, followed by increasing coverage of the vein and arterial areas. All types of varicose veins can have signs of reflux, which are already pathologically specific and require medical intervention.

varicose veins

Understanding the severity of the disease makes it possible to begin treatment in a timely manner, because even the early stages of the process, which have a small number of external manifestations, are dangerous for the health of the feet. Grade 1 varicose veins are practically asymptomatic, but this does not mean that there is no need to treat the disease.

External examination of the affected vein with the altered vein will allow the specialist to roughly determine the possible cause of the disease. However, to clarify the diagnosis, one must undergo various diagnostic procedures that make it possible to determine the prevalence of autologous processes, as well as to improve the effect of therapy intended to obtain the most clear and long -lasting - lasting positive results. Classification will help to make a diagnosis in accordance with the external manifestations of the disease, as well as to determine the system of therapeutic effects.

Classification according to degree of deterioration

Today, the generally accepted classification method should be considered as a variant that divides the course of the disease into certain stages. Each has a characteristic manifestation, with the onset of the next stage, a greater degree and intensity of symptoms being observed, a greater prevalence in the affected area.

The classification of the disease, which is performed depending on the degree of neglect, is as follows:

  • early stage of varicose veins - in the early stages of the pathological process, there is a gradual accumulation of characteristic manifestations of the disease, which is not always observed by the patient. This stage is often called latent: a person can get rid of unpleasant sensations after a day of spending time on their feet for basic fatigue, the presence of excess weight. If, however, with the listed factors we increase the expectation of the child, heredity (if there is at least one close relative with existing varicose veins, one can safely assume a person's tendency to develop the disease on oneself), then onecan ignore the pathological changes found in the veins at the bottom for a long time.
  • the first stage is already marked by manifestations such as periodic numbness of the legs (especially with prolonged maintenance in one position and standing position), pain in certain parts of the legs, a feeling of tightness in the legs and veins due to deterioration of the quality of circulatory processes, veins simultaneously dilate andamplify their tensions. Externally, the first stage of the disease manifests itself in the appearance of small areas with visible veins and blood vessels, which can disturb the patient when pressing on such areas;
  • 2nd degree varicose veins can have the following characteristic manifestations:
    • the pain becomes more pronounced, increasing at the end of the day;
    • bruises and areas with altered veins and capillaries appear on the skin, which can be seen even with the naked eye;
    • the extent of the lesion is increased, which is indicated by an increase in the lesion area.

    In the second stage of this pathological process, there is a feeling of heaviness in the legs, a feeling of ruptured veins and skin, so -called goose bumps on the legs and in the popliteal area may appear, which are not associated with external factors. Grade 2 varicose veins can still be treated; at a later stage, the process of exacerbation of the disease progresses at a faster rate and affects more areas in the lower part of the foot, while the process of treatment is difficult and does not always give positive results;

  • grade 3 varicose veins are less curable. All characteristic symptoms worsen, the pain worsens, and the affected part covers most of the foot. The condition and color of the skin of the feet changes: they acquire a darker color, the skin itself becomes an unhealthy structure, increasingly resembling dead skin. At this stage, varicose veins almost always require surgical intervention, as there is a high risk of thrombus developing and separating from the vessel wall, which can clog the vessel lumen and result in serious consequences in the form of limb amputation risk. The third stage is the most dangerous because most likely there are corresponding negative manifestations during treatment.

There are also capillary varicose veins, where small blood vessels receive load, the quality of blood circulation gradually deteriorates, characteristic signs appear in the form of increased limb fatigue, the appearance of swelling of the affected tissue, and skin discoloration at the lesion site.

Varicose veins have a stage that gradually turns into a more complicated one, while the method of treatment is determined both by the localization of the location of the lesion and by the subjective manifestations of the disease. Anyone who has recorded at least one of these formidable disease signs should remember that the likelihood of the disease transitioning in a short time to a deeper level and a significant deterioration in the health of the lower limbs is high. Also, if no treatment is needed, the patient may become disabled - as shown by medical statistics, this, on average, takes about 11 years from the moment the first characteristic manifestation of the disease appears.

Why is treatment needed?

Varicose veins in the lower part of the leg, or VBNK, are accompanied by a gradual deterioration of blood circulation, the appearance of increasing symptoms, requiring immediate medical response. When detecting varicose veins in the lower leg, a more detailed diagnosis of the veins and blood vessels is performed, the degree of neglect of the process is determined.

Diseases of the lower extremities require treatment due to the worsening pathological process, which affects a growing area. The likelihood of remaining disabled is high, especially at an older age, when there is a general emphasis on basic bodily functions and a decrease in the level of resistance to disease. And if there are corresponding lesions, the treatment of varicose veins on the legs is more difficult.

Since the disease is characterized by different types (or stages), which differ in the degree of exacerbation of the pathological process, treatment should be carried out in accordance with the diagnostic results performed, as well as by taking into account the individual characteristics of the organism.
